When photographing a wedding, I do not limit myself to portraiture, or to photojournalism, or to some other style. My style is a healthy BLEND of romantic portraiture, photojournalism, and candids, because each style captures a different aspect of The Day.
Portraiture: lighting and poses are CONTROLLED to make people look their best
- My goals with portraiture is to keep poses very natural looking while being cheerful and fun to work with.
Photojournalism: lighting is natural (or made to look natural) and people are going about their business
- usually these are done in black and white
- known for sometimes omitting faces to focus the viewers attention on easily missed
Candids: spur of the moment
- sometimes simply to document an instant of time during the wedding day
- to capture people or things you might miss on your wedding day
- many times they excel at capturing your family and friends as they REALLY are!
